Open Access Playschemes..
provide supervised play activities for school aged children. Open access means that the playscheme is open to all children in the local community on a first come first served basis. Supervised play activities are provided by staff on a sessional basis, and is therefore not normally suitable for working parents and does not constitute care being provided in the absence of parents/carers.
Manchester Play provides..
support and resources to organisations which operate open access holiday playschemes. Play providers need to be registered to be providers of play and Manchester Play can arrange and support groups' registration. If you would like to be involved in playwork, or your organisation would like to become a provider of play, please contact Manchester Play on 0161 274 6503.

We support open access playschemes during the Easter and Summer holidays. We have also introduced a new small grant for groups providing play activities or events up to 5 days in duration, especially for groups wanting to provide play during the half term and Christmas holidays. There may be other cultural events taking place, and so we will be providing up to the minute (hopefully!) details of these holiday playschemes and events in our play listings which can be accessed by clicking here .
Are you a parent of a child who has additional needs? Are you looking for something for your child to do during the holidays? Are you concerned about accessibility, supervision, suitability of activities for your child(ren)? If the answer is yes to any of these questions then you can speak to our Access & Inclusion Coordinator who will help with any queries you may have, and who will personally liaise with all parties involved in finding a suitable place for your child(ren) on a local playscheme.
