Aims
To support front line staff to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding required for effective delivery of services and improved outcomes for children, young people and their families

Objectives
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

• Define their role as a worker within the Children’s Workforce
• Demonstrate understanding of the key common core areas and practiced skills within the workplace
• Identify policies and procedures affecting their role and those of partner organisations, that may impact on the delivery of services
• Understand how to communicate effectively with children, young people their families, carers and people from other organisations
• Understand their role in relation to the development of children and young people and the facts relating to this
• Recognise their role in supporting transitions of children and young people
• Contribute to the protection of children and young people
• Understand the principles of multi agency and integrated working
• Use and share information appropriately in the course of day to day service delivery
• Demonstrate their role in empowering children, young people and their families

8 days over the duration of 2 months

Target Group
Frontline staff from Children’s Services and partner agencies, who work regularly with and deliver services to, children and young people in Manchester.

Course Requirements
Participants on this programme will produce a portfolio containing a reflective learning diary, short work based tasks, tutorial recordings and action plans. This portfolio may be used as evidence for further qualifications.

Course Numbers
Courses will only run if there are a minimum number of 15 participants. The maximum number of participants is 20.
